Leadership is not simply a title. It is a promise — a commitment to serve, inspire, and uplift those around you. At Pledge Harbor International School (PHIS), we take that promise seriously. And on Saturday, 18th October, we honoured it with great solemnity, pride, and joy at our Investiture Ceremony for the Academic Year 2025–26.
As one of the most respected English Medium Boarding Schools in Bangladesh, PHIS has always placed student leadership at the core of its school culture. The Investiture Ceremony is one of the most significant events in our annual calendar — a formal occasion where responsibility is not merely assigned, but earnestly pledged.
The proceedings began on a note of spiritual reverence and national pride, opening with a recitation from the Holy Quran followed by the National Anthem — a reminder to every student present that leadership at PHIS is grounded in faith, integrity, and a deep sense of service to community and country.
What followed was a moment many of our students will carry with them for the rest of their lives.
At the heart of the ceremony was the oath-taking of the newly elected Student Council, led by our newly appointed School Captain, Khatib Al Mohatadi. In a moment of quiet dignity and immense pride, each student leader stepped forward and took their oath — a personal commitment to uphold the values of Pledge Harbor International School and to serve their peers with honesty, dedication, and compassion.
Each badge pinned was more than a symbol. It was a declaration of trust placed by the PHIS community in its young leaders.
The ceremony was further elevated by inspiring speeches that resonated deeply with everyone in attendance.
School Captain Khatib Al Mohatadi addressed his peers with maturity and vision, setting a tone of purposeful, values-driven leadership for the year ahead. His words were a testament to the kind of confident, articulate, and principled young people that PHIS — as an IB Boarding School in Dhaka — is committed to developing.
Our respected Head of School, Ma’am Kaniz Zareen, delivered a speech that was both motivating and deeply heartfelt — reminding our new leaders that true leadership begins with listening, empathy, and an unwavering commitment to the well-being of others.
A beautifully performed choir piece added a soulful, celebratory dimension to the programme, filling the hall with harmony and reflecting the rich cultural and artistic life that thrives at PHIS.
The ceremony concluded with a warm Vote of Thanks, followed by a commemorative photo session that captured the joy, pride, and excitement of a community celebrating its future leaders.
At Pledge Harbor International School, student leadership is not a co-curricular add-on. It is woven into the very fabric of our school’s identity — deeply aligned with the IB learner profile and our mission to develop young people who are principled, caring, knowledgeable, and bold enough to make a difference.
For families seeking an English Medium Boarding School in Dhaka that genuinely nurtures leadership alongside academic excellence, PHIS offers an environment where every student — from a Grade 3 Prefect to the School Captain — is given the tools, the platform, and the encouragement to lead with purpose.
Our IB continuum structure, spanning PYP, MYP, and DP, ensures that leadership qualities are cultivated progressively from the earliest years — so that by the time students reach the Diploma Programme, they are not just academically prepared for the world, but fully equipped to shape it.
To School Captain Khatib Al Mohatadi, to every Captain, Dorm Leader, House Captain, and Class Prefect — this is your moment. The PHIS community stands behind you, believes in you, and is proud of you.
Lead with integrity. Serve with heart. And remember — the best leaders are those who bring others with them.
Here’s to a year of extraordinary leadership at Pledge Harbor International School!
