Shubho Noboborsho 1433

As the warmth of Boishakh fills the air and Bangladesh awakens to the vibrant colours, rhythms, and aromas of a brand new year, the entire Pledge Harbor International School (PHIS) family pauses with joy and gratitude to celebrate Pohela Boishakh — the first day of the Bengali calendar and one of the most beloved cultural occasions in our national life.

Shubho Noboborsho 1433 to every member of our school community, to every family who walks alongside us, and to every corner of our beautiful Bangladesh.

A Celebration Rooted in Who We Are

At Pledge Harbor International School, we are proud to be an English Medium IB Boarding School in Bangladesh — a school that holds a global vision while remaining deeply, lovingly anchored in the cultural soil from which we grow.

Pohela Boishakh is more than a calendar event. It is a declaration of identity — a collective moment when Bangladeshis everywhere, regardless of background, faith, or age, come together to celebrate what unites us: our language, our traditions, our art, our food, and our shared sense of belonging to something ancient, beautiful, and enduring.

For our students — young people who are being shaped into internationally minded, culturally aware global citizens — occasions like Pohela Boishakh are not separate from their IB education. They are an essential part of it. Understanding and honouring one’s own cultural heritage is the foundation from which genuine international-mindedness grows.

New Year, Renewed Purpose

Pohela Boishakh carries with it a spirit of new beginnings — a collective exhale and a fresh intake of breath. As we step into Bangla New Year 1433 together, the PHIS community reflects on the values that guide us every day and recommits to them with renewed energy and intention:

  • 🌸 Simplicity — finding beauty and meaning in what truly matters, not what merely impresses
  • 💛 Kindness — choosing warmth, empathy, and generosity in every interaction, every day
  • 🦁 Courage — moving forward with confidence even when the path ahead is uncertain
  • Positivity — carrying hope as a habit and optimism as a practice

These are not just values for a new year. They are the values that run through every classroom, every dormitory, and every community gathering at Pledge Harbor International School — and they find their most joyful expression on days like today.

Our Wish for Every Member of the PHIS Family

As Boishakh arrives in all its colour and warmth, we carry in our hearts a heartfelt wish for each and every person who is part of the PHIS story:

🎓 To our learners — May this new year bring you wisdom, wonder, and the courage to ask bigger questions and dream bolder dreams. You are our greatest source of pride and inspiration.

👩‍🏫 To our teachers and staff — May this year reward your extraordinary dedication with moments of joy, growth, and the deep satisfaction of knowing that your work is changing lives every single day.

🏡 To our parents and families — May your homes be filled with laughter, health, and the warmth of togetherness. Thank you for trusting us with what matters most to you.

🌏 To our wider community — May harmony, understanding, and mutual respect define every relationship and every conversation in the year ahead.

Step Into 1433 With Us

Let us welcome Bangla New Year 1433 with clean hearts, bright minds, and a strong, shared commitment to growth and excellence — as individuals, as a school community, and as proud citizens of Bangladesh.

Because at Pledge Harbor International School, we believe that the best is always yet to come — and that every new year, like every new school day, is another opportunity to become more than we were yesterday.

Shubho Noboborsho! শুভ নববর্ষ ১৪৩৩! 🌺
