As the warmth of Boishakh fills the air and Bangladesh awakens to the vibrant colours, rhythms, and aromas of a brand new year, the entire Pledge Harbor International School (PHIS) family pauses with joy and gratitude to celebrate Pohela Boishakh — the first day of the Bengali calendar and one of the most beloved cultural occasions in our national life.

Shubho Noboborsho 1433 to every member of our school community, to every family who walks alongside us, and to every corner of our beautiful Bangladesh.

A Celebration Rooted in Who We Are

At Pledge Harbor International School, we are proud to be an English Medium IB Boarding School in Bangladesh — a school that holds a global vision while remaining deeply, lovingly anchored in the cultural soil from which we grow.

Pohela Boishakh is more than a calendar event. It is a declaration of identity — a collective moment when Bangladeshis everywhere, regardless of background, faith, or age, come together to celebrate what unites us: our language, our traditions, our art, our food, and our shared sense of belonging to something ancient, beautiful, and enduring.

For our students — young people who are being shaped into internationally minded, culturally aware global citizens — occasions like Pohela Boishakh are not separate from their IB education. They are an essential part of it. Understanding and honouring one’s own cultural heritage is the foundation from which genuine international-mindedness grows.

New Year, Renewed Purpose

Pohela Boishakh carries with it a spirit of new beginnings — a collective exhale and a fresh intake of breath. As we step into Bangla New Year 1433 together, the PHIS community reflects on the values that guide us every day and recommits to them with renewed energy and intention:

  • 🌸 Simplicity — finding beauty and meaning in what truly matters, not what merely impresses
  • 💛 Kindness — choosing warmth, empathy, and generosity in every interaction, every day
  • 🦁 Courage — moving forward with confidence even when the path ahead is uncertain
  • ✨ Positivity — carrying hope as a habit and optimism as a practice

These are not just values for a new year. They are the values that run through every classroom, every dormitory, and every community gathering at Pledge Harbor International School — and they find their most joyful expression on days like today.

Our Wish for Every Member of the PHIS Family

As Boishakh arrives in all its colour and warmth, we carry in our hearts a heartfelt wish for each and every person who is part of the PHIS story:

🎓 To our learners — May this new year bring you wisdom, wonder, and the courage to ask bigger questions and dream bolder dreams. You are our greatest source of pride and inspiration.

👩‍🏫 To our teachers and staff — May this year reward your extraordinary dedication with moments of joy, growth, and the deep satisfaction of knowing that your work is changing lives every single day.

🏡 To our parents and families — May your homes be filled with laughter, health, and the warmth of togetherness. Thank you for trusting us with what matters most to you.

🌏 To our wider community — May harmony, understanding, and mutual respect define every relationship and every conversation in the year ahead.

Step Into 1433 With Us

Let us welcome Bangla New Year 1433 with clean hearts, bright minds, and a strong, shared commitment to growth and excellence — as individuals, as a school community, and as proud citizens of Bangladesh.

Because at Pledge Harbor International School, we believe that the best is always yet to come — and that every new year, like every new school day, is another opportunity to become more than we were yesterday.

Shubho Noboborsho! শুভ নববর্ষ ১৪৩৩! 🌺

PYP Science & Math Exhibition 2026 at

There is something truly magical about watching a young child explain their own scientific discovery with confidence, curiosity, and genuine pride.

There is something truly magical about watching a young child explain their own scientific discovery with confidence, curiosity, and genuine pride. On 5th March 2026, that magic was on full display at Pledge Harbor International School (PHIS) as our youngest learners took centre stage at the PYP Science and Math Exhibition 2026 — a joyful, inspiring, and thoroughly impressive celebration of inquiry-based learning.

As one of Bangladesh’s most respected English Medium IB Boarding Schools, PHIS is deeply committed to nurturing a love of learning that goes far beyond memorisation and examinations. The PYP Science and Math Exhibition is one of the most vivid expressions of that commitment — a day when curiosity becomes visible, and every child is a confident, capable thinker.

From Creche to Grade 5 — Every Learner a Scientist

What made this year’s exhibition particularly special was its breadth. Learners from Creche all the way through to Grade 5 participated — meaning that children as young as three years old were presenting their ideas, experiments, and discoveries to parents and visitors with remarkable enthusiasm and clarity.

Across the exhibition floor, students showcased a wonderfully diverse range of:

  • 🔬 Science experiments — hands-on investigations that brought biological, physical, and environmental concepts to life
  • 📐 Mathematical models and projects — creative visual representations of mathematical thinking, pattern recognition, and problem-solving
  • 🌍 Real-world inquiry projects — explorations that connected classroom learning to the world students actually live in and care about

Whether a student was demonstrating a simple scientific observation or presenting a more complex mathematical model, every single exhibit reflected the same qualities: curiosity, effort, and the joy of discovery.

Inquiry at the Heart of Everything

The IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) is built on a conviction that children are natural inquirers — and that the best education honours and deepens that instinct rather than replacing it with passive instruction. The PYP Science and Math Exhibition is perhaps the purest expression of this philosophy in action.

Throughout the event, visitors were treated to students who could not just show their projects — they could explain them. They articulated their questions, described their process, shared what surprised them, and reflected on what they would explore next. This is the difference between learning about science and mathematics, and genuinely thinking like a scientist and mathematician.

At Pledge Harbor International School — an IB Boarding School in Dhaka where inquiry-based learning is woven into every aspect of school life — this depth of student understanding is not accidental. It is the result of dedicated teachers, a rigorous yet joyful curriculum, and a school culture that celebrates questions as much as answers.

Critical Thinking, Problem-Solving & Confidence on Display

Three qualities stood out above all others throughout the exhibition:

🧠 Critical Thinking — Students did not simply present facts. They presented reasoning. Visitors saw young learners who could evaluate evidence, make comparisons, draw conclusions, and defend their ideas — skills that will serve them throughout their entire educational journey and beyond.

💡 Problem-Solving — Many projects were born from a genuine question or challenge that students had identified themselves. Watching a Grade 3 student walk a parent through the problem they set out to solve — and the solution they discovered — was a powerful reminder of what student-led learning can achieve.

🎤 Confidence — Perhaps the most heartwarming aspect of the day was the sheer confidence with which students of all ages presented their work. From a Creche child proudly pointing to their experiment, to a Grade 5 student fielding questions from visitors with poise and clarity — the PHIS commitment to building self-assured, articulate learners was unmistakably evident.

These are precisely the qualities that distinguish graduates of strong English Medium Schools in Bangladesh — and they were radiantly present in our youngest learners on this remarkable day.

The PYP Philosophy — Making Learning Real

For families exploring IB Boarding Schools in Bangladesh for their primary-age children, the PYP Science and Math Exhibition offers a powerful window into what makes the IB Primary Years Programme — and PHIS specifically — so transformative.

In the PYP, science and mathematics are not isolated subjects delivered in silos. They are lenses through which students explore and make sense of the world — connected to each other, to other disciplines, and to the real experiences and questions that young children bring to school every single day.

At PHIS, our PYP teachers work tirelessly to design learning experiences that are authentic, hands-on, and genuinely meaningful — and the exhibition was the most visible proof of the extraordinary learning that happens in our classrooms every day.

Proud of Every Single Learner

To every student from Creche to Grade 5 who brought their project to life, who stood before an audience and shared their thinking, and who approached the day with enthusiasm and pride — we are so incredibly proud of you.

You are not just young learners. You are young scientists, young mathematicians, and young thinkers — and the world is a more curious, more creative place because of the questions you are already asking.

A Heartfelt Thank You

A warm and sincere thank you to our PHIS parents and school community for your presence, encouragement, and unwavering support of our learners’ journeys. Your partnership makes everything we do at Pledge Harbor International School richer, warmer, and more meaningful.

And a special thank you to our dedicated PYP teachers — whose creativity, passion, and belief in every child made this exhibition the extraordinary celebration it was.

Here’s to a future filled with questions, discoveries, and the boundless joy of learning at Pledge Harbor International School!

MYP Exhibition 2026 at Pledge Harbor International School

Some events do more than mark a date on the school calendar. They hold up a mirror to everything a school stands for — and what you see reflected back takes your breath away.

Some events do more than mark a date on the school calendar. They hold up a mirror to everything a school stands for — and what you see reflected back takes your breath away. The MYP Exhibition 2026 at Pledge Harbor International School (PHIS) was precisely that kind of event.

Held on 10 February 2026, the exhibition was a rich, multi-layered celebration of student agency, interdisciplinary thinking, and the kind of bold, purposeful learning that defines PHIS as one of Bangladesh’s most forward-thinking English Medium IB Boarding Schools. From powerful stage performances to innovative sustainability projects, our MYP students showed the world — and themselves — just how far they have come.

What Is the MYP Exhibition?

The IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) Exhibition is a landmark event in the IB continuum, giving students the opportunity to synthesise their learning across disciplines, demonstrate genuine inquiry, and present work that connects to real-world issues and personal passions.

At Pledge Harbor International School — an IB Boarding School in Dhaka where the full IB continuum from PYP through MYP to DP is lived and breathed every day — the MYP Exhibition is one of the most anticipated events of the academic year. And the 2026 edition surpassed every expectation.

Stage Performances That Stopped the Room

The exhibition opened with a series of powerful stage performances that immediately set the tone for a day of creative courage and intellectual depth.

A particular highlight was the students’ artistic exploration of Shakespeare — a journey that traced the progression of dramatic understanding, interpretation, and performance across the MYP years. Watching our students inhabit the language and world of Shakespeare with confidence and nuance was a proud reminder of the literary and cultural depth nurtured at PHIS.

Equally captivating were the bilingual drama performances in English and Spanish — a stunning demonstration of linguistic agility, cultural awareness, and the kind of global-minded creativity that sets IB students in Bangladesh apart. In a single performance, our students embodied the IB’s vision of internationally minded young people who communicate across cultures with ease and authenticity.

Service as Action — Making a Difference Through Learning

One of the most moving dimensions of the MYP Exhibition 2026 was the visible, tangible impact of Service as Action — the MYP’s commitment to ensuring that learning translates into meaningful contribution to the wider world.

Across the MYP floor, students presented projects that were as imaginative as they were purposeful:

  • 🎨 A breathtaking Starry Nights-inspired mural crafted entirely from recycled plastic cups — a fusion of fine art and environmental activism that stopped every visitor in their tracks
  • 👜 Tote bags created from recycled T-shirts — a practical, wearable statement about sustainable living and conscious consumption
  • 🌿 Hand-painted handkerchiefs promoting sustainability and empathy — delicate, beautiful, and deeply intentional works that carried powerful messages about our shared responsibility to the planet and to each other

These projects were not simply school assignments. They were acts of genuine agency — students identifying issues they care about and responding with creativity, skill, and heart. This is Service as Action at its most authentic, and it is one of the qualities that makes PHIS one of the most distinctive English Medium Schools in Bangladesh.

Interdisciplinary Units — Connected Learning at Its Best

The Interdisciplinary Units (IDUs) on display at the exhibition were a compelling demonstration of what happens when learning breaks free from the boundaries of single subjects and becomes something richer, more complex, and more true to how the world actually works.

Projects ranged wonderfully in theme, medium, and approach:

  • 🎬 A documentary film honouring a child war hero — combining history, media literacy, storytelling, and social justice into a single, deeply researched piece of work
  • 🎭 A stick puppet show explaining the human digestive system — a brilliantly creative fusion of biology and performing arts that made science accessible, engaging, and genuinely fun
  • 📰 A magazine celebrating the founding and history of PHIS — a journalistic and design project that deepened students’ connection to their own school community while developing real-world publishing skills

Each IDU reflected the MYP’s core conviction that the most meaningful learning happens at the intersections — where science meets art, where history meets storytelling, where personal passion meets academic rigour.

The Heart of It All — Our Students

If there was one theme that ran through every performance, every project, and every conversation at the MYP Exhibition 2026, it was this: our students are extraordinary.

Their resilience — the willingness to tackle complex, open-ended challenges without a guaranteed right answer. Their creativity — the imaginative leaps that turned recycled cups into murals and recycled T-shirts into advocacy. Their courage — the readiness to stand before an audience, present their thinking, and invite genuine dialogue.

These are not just admirable qualities. They are the hallmarks of the IB learner profile — and they were radiantly on display throughout the day at Pledge Harbor International School.

A Thank You to Our PHIS Community

The MYP Exhibition belongs to many people beyond the students who presented. A heartfelt thank you to:

  • 👩‍🏫 Our MYP teachers — whose guidance, creativity, and high expectations made all of this possible
  • 👨‍👩‍👧 Our parents — whose partnership, encouragement, and presence on the day meant the world to our learners
  • 🏫 The entire PHIS community — for showing up, engaging genuinely, and celebrating every student’s effort with warmth and enthusiasm

At Pledge Harbor International School, we often say that it takes a whole community to raise a global citizen. The MYP Exhibition 2026 was proof of that — and proof that our community is doing something truly special together.

PHIS — Where the IB Continuum Comes to Life

For families exploring IB Boarding Schools in Bangladesh that offer a genuinely cohesive, values-driven education from the primary years through to the Diploma Programme, the MYP Exhibition is one of the clearest windows into what makes PHIS exceptional.

Here, the IB is not a label on a prospectus. It is the living culture of our school — visible in every mural, every performance, every conversation, and every act of service our students offer to the world.

We could not be prouder of our MYP Class of 2026. You have shown us all what curious, compassionate, and courageous learning truly looks like.
