MYP Exhibition 2026 at Pledge Harbor International School

Some events do more than mark a date on the school calendar. They hold up a mirror to everything a school stands for — and what you see reflected back takes your breath away.

Some events do more than mark a date on the school calendar. They hold up a mirror to everything a school stands for — and what you see reflected back takes your breath away. The MYP Exhibition 2026 at Pledge Harbor International School (PHIS) was precisely that kind of event.

Held on 10 February 2026, the exhibition was a rich, multi-layered celebration of student agency, interdisciplinary thinking, and the kind of bold, purposeful learning that defines PHIS as one of Bangladesh’s most forward-thinking English Medium IB Boarding Schools. From powerful stage performances to innovative sustainability projects, our MYP students showed the world — and themselves — just how far they have come.

What Is the MYP Exhibition?

The IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) Exhibition is a landmark event in the IB continuum, giving students the opportunity to synthesise their learning across disciplines, demonstrate genuine inquiry, and present work that connects to real-world issues and personal passions.

At Pledge Harbor International School — an IB Boarding School in Dhaka where the full IB continuum from PYP through MYP to DP is lived and breathed every day — the MYP Exhibition is one of the most anticipated events of the academic year. And the 2026 edition surpassed every expectation.

Stage Performances That Stopped the Room

The exhibition opened with a series of powerful stage performances that immediately set the tone for a day of creative courage and intellectual depth.

A particular highlight was the students’ artistic exploration of Shakespeare — a journey that traced the progression of dramatic understanding, interpretation, and performance across the MYP years. Watching our students inhabit the language and world of Shakespeare with confidence and nuance was a proud reminder of the literary and cultural depth nurtured at PHIS.

Equally captivating were the bilingual drama performances in English and Spanish — a stunning demonstration of linguistic agility, cultural awareness, and the kind of global-minded creativity that sets IB students in Bangladesh apart. In a single performance, our students embodied the IB’s vision of internationally minded young people who communicate across cultures with ease and authenticity.

Service as Action — Making a Difference Through Learning

One of the most moving dimensions of the MYP Exhibition 2026 was the visible, tangible impact of Service as Action — the MYP’s commitment to ensuring that learning translates into meaningful contribution to the wider world.

Across the MYP floor, students presented projects that were as imaginative as they were purposeful:

  • 🎨 A breathtaking Starry Nights-inspired mural crafted entirely from recycled plastic cups — a fusion of fine art and environmental activism that stopped every visitor in their tracks
  • 👜 Tote bags created from recycled T-shirts — a practical, wearable statement about sustainable living and conscious consumption
  • 🌿 Hand-painted handkerchiefs promoting sustainability and empathy — delicate, beautiful, and deeply intentional works that carried powerful messages about our shared responsibility to the planet and to each other

These projects were not simply school assignments. They were acts of genuine agency — students identifying issues they care about and responding with creativity, skill, and heart. This is Service as Action at its most authentic, and it is one of the qualities that makes PHIS one of the most distinctive English Medium Schools in Bangladesh.

Interdisciplinary Units — Connected Learning at Its Best

The Interdisciplinary Units (IDUs) on display at the exhibition were a compelling demonstration of what happens when learning breaks free from the boundaries of single subjects and becomes something richer, more complex, and more true to how the world actually works.

Projects ranged wonderfully in theme, medium, and approach:

  • 🎬 A documentary film honouring a child war hero — combining history, media literacy, storytelling, and social justice into a single, deeply researched piece of work
  • 🎭 A stick puppet show explaining the human digestive system — a brilliantly creative fusion of biology and performing arts that made science accessible, engaging, and genuinely fun
  • 📰 A magazine celebrating the founding and history of PHIS — a journalistic and design project that deepened students’ connection to their own school community while developing real-world publishing skills

Each IDU reflected the MYP’s core conviction that the most meaningful learning happens at the intersections — where science meets art, where history meets storytelling, where personal passion meets academic rigour.

The Heart of It All — Our Students

If there was one theme that ran through every performance, every project, and every conversation at the MYP Exhibition 2026, it was this: our students are extraordinary.

Their resilience — the willingness to tackle complex, open-ended challenges without a guaranteed right answer. Their creativity — the imaginative leaps that turned recycled cups into murals and recycled T-shirts into advocacy. Their courage — the readiness to stand before an audience, present their thinking, and invite genuine dialogue.

These are not just admirable qualities. They are the hallmarks of the IB learner profile — and they were radiantly on display throughout the day at Pledge Harbor International School.

A Thank You to Our PHIS Community

The MYP Exhibition belongs to many people beyond the students who presented. A heartfelt thank you to:

  • 👩‍🏫 Our MYP teachers — whose guidance, creativity, and high expectations made all of this possible
  • 👨‍👩‍👧 Our parents — whose partnership, encouragement, and presence on the day meant the world to our learners
  • 🏫 The entire PHIS community — for showing up, engaging genuinely, and celebrating every student’s effort with warmth and enthusiasm

At Pledge Harbor International School, we often say that it takes a whole community to raise a global citizen. The MYP Exhibition 2026 was proof of that — and proof that our community is doing something truly special together.

PHIS — Where the IB Continuum Comes to Life

For families exploring IB Boarding Schools in Bangladesh that offer a genuinely cohesive, values-driven education from the primary years through to the Diploma Programme, the MYP Exhibition is one of the clearest windows into what makes PHIS exceptional.

Here, the IB is not a label on a prospectus. It is the living culture of our school — visible in every mural, every performance, every conversation, and every act of service our students offer to the world.

We could not be prouder of our MYP Class of 2026. You have shown us all what curious, compassionate, and courageous learning truly looks like.

Field Trip to CCDB Climate Centre Gazipur

At Pledge Harbor International School (PHIS), we believe that the most powerful lessons are often the ones that happen outside four walls. As a forward-thinking English Medium School in Bangladesh.

At Pledge Harbor International School (PHIS), we believe that the most powerful lessons are often the ones that happen outside four walls. As a forward-thinking English Medium School in Bangladesh rooted in the International Baccalaureate philosophy, we are committed to giving our students rich, real-world learning experiences that connect classroom concepts to the world they will one day lead.

In that spirit, students from Grades 3 to 7 recently embarked on a truly impactful field trip to the CCDB Climate Centre in Sreepur, Gazipur — Bangladesh’s leading hub for climate education, environmental innovation, and community resilience.

Discovering Bangladesh’s Climate Story — Up Close

The CCDB Climate Centre offered our young learners a rare and immersive window into one of the most pressing challenges of our generation: climate change and its impact on Bangladesh and the world.

The day’s journey began at the Climate Park, where students physically experienced the diversity of Bangladesh’s major ecological zones — from coastal regions to flood-prone plains to drought-affected areas. Rather than reading about these realities in a textbook, our students walked through them, observed them, and began to ask the deeper questions that great learning always inspires.

They witnessed first-hand how communities across Bangladesh are actively responding to floods, salinity, drought, rising sea levels, and other escalating climate challenges — gaining a profound appreciation for both the urgency of environmental action and the resilience of the people most affected by it.

Innovation, Science & Sustainability in Action

The field trip went beyond awareness. Our students also explored research displays and innovation models that showcased some of the most exciting frontiers in climate solutions, including:

  • ☀️ Renewable energy technologies — understanding how solar, wind, and other clean energy sources are being harnessed in Bangladesh
  • 🌾 Climate-smart agriculture — discovering how farmers are adapting their practices to grow food sustainably despite changing weather patterns
  • 🏡 Sustainable living technologies — seeing practical, community-level innovations that reduce environmental impact
  • 📚 Knowledge hubs for climate resilience — exploring how education and information sharing are central to building a climate-ready society

For students following the IB curriculum at PHIS — where interdisciplinary thinking, inquiry, and real-world connections are fundamental — this visit was a perfect embodiment of learning in action. Science, geography, social studies, and global citizenship all converged in a single, unforgettable day.

Hands-On, Hearts Engaged

What made this trip truly special was not just what students saw — but how they engaged with it. The day was filled with:

  • 🔍 Hands-on observations that brought environmental science to life
  • 💬 Interactive Q&A sessions that encouraged students to think critically and ask bold questions
  • 📝 Reflection activities that helped learners process and personalise what they experienced
  • 📸 A fun photo session that captured memories and celebrated a day of genuine discovery

Watching our Grade 3 to Grade 7 students engage so thoughtfully and enthusiastically with complex global issues was a proud reminder of why experiential learning is at the heart of what makes PHIS one of the most distinctive English Medium Schools in Dhaka.

Why Experiential Learning Matters at PHIS

The IB framework — which underpins everything we do at Pledge Harbor International School as an IB Boarding School in Dhaka — places enormous value on Action, Inquiry, and Reflection. Field trips like this one are not optional enrichment. They are integral to how our students develop into knowledgeable, caring, and principled global citizens.

When a Grade 5 student stands in front of a model of a flood-affected village and asks “What can I do about this?” — that is the PHIS philosophy at work. That curiosity, that empathy, that sense of personal responsibility — these are the qualities we nurture every single day, inside the classroom and beyond it.

A Grateful Thank You

A heartfelt thank you to the entire CCDB team at the Climate Centre in Sreepur for their outstanding hospitality, expertise, and commitment to environmental education. Your work is making a genuine difference — and our students are better thinkers and more caring citizens because of the time they spent with you.

And to our dedicated PHIS teachers who organised and facilitated this enriching experience — thank you for going above and beyond to bring learning to life for our students. Your effort and passion never go unnoticed.
